Board Meeting Minutes

January 3, 2002

Lori called the meeting to order at 6:40 PM.

Present: Lori Dobosy, Secretary/Treasurer; Traci Klein, Membership VP; Sally Kuzmik, Management VP; Mariah Passingham, Community VP; Wendi Percha, IDVP/Newsletter Editor

Traci mad the motion, second by Mariah, to accept the December minutes as printed. All in favor. None opposed.

Communication was discussed. It was the opinion of the board to continue getting in contact with each other once a week. It was decided the reason this failed last month was the holidays.

We also decided that we need to have board meeting on a different night than GMMs so we have time to get things ready for the GMMs. Motion by Mariah, second by Wendi, that monthly board meeting will be held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Short Stop restaurant. All in favor. None opposed.

The business presentation was discussed. Mariah told us that she has a mock-up prepared that we will go over when we meet with Michelle Walk later this month.

Bylaws were next on the agenda. Lori told us that she had made no progress on this project due to her move and the holidays. She will get together what she can for our meeting with Michelle. Michelle has offered to help us write our by-laws.

The Frankie Percha Scholarship was discussed next. Lori presented the board with a cover letter and application form she prepared. The board looked at both and offered suggestions.

Sally had planned on having Janie, past state president, come up from Hastings and conduct a Management VP training on January 12. Since no one besides Sally was planning on attending, Janie cancelled her trip. Lori volunteered to drive down to Hastings with Sally to get training from Janie in the future.

Now that January 12 is open, Mariah told us the board can go up to Michelle Walk's house and get board training. Michelle has faxed us an agenda and reminded us to bring our bathing suits as the hot tub is working. It was agreed that we will meet at Gaylord Ford at 3 PM on January 12 and drive to Michelle's house in the UP. We will train, stay the night and return to Gaylord on Sunday, the 13th.

Mariah suggested that we have a monthly set social. Mariah volunteered to chair this project and Lori volunteered to be on the committee. Motion by Lori second by Wendi, that we plan set monthly socials. All in favor. None opposed.

Mariah told us Ann Wright of the Otsego County 4-H had contacted her. 4-H has plans to paint the center building at the fairgrounds this spring. 10 years ago when this was done, the Jaycees helped. Lori expressed concern that in all her years in 4-h, she never saw anything in the center building recognizing the Jaycees for their help. Motion by Mariah, second by Traci, that we have Ann keep us informed about this project and that we help as long as something goes in the barn to recognize our help. All in favor. None opposed.

Wendi made the motion, second by Mariah, to adjourn the meeting. All in favor. None opposed.

Meeting adjourned 7:05 PM.

Respectfully Submitted:
